UNIVERSITI BRUNEI DARUSSALAM invites suitably qualified Bruneian Citizens and Permanent Residents to apply for the position of PROJECT OFFICER for UBD/ IBM Centre.
Job Descriptions:
• To familiarize with the UBD / IBM research projects outlines and other requirements of each project, as well as the UBD / IBM Centre’s policies.
• To assist Director and Deputy Director, USD / IBM Centre in managing, supervising and monitoring the administrative structures, processes, and operational procedures of the research projects to ensure the effective functioning of the Centre; . Responsible for coordination of meetings, preparation of regular management and meeting reports, accounts and other records that monitor the performance of USD1 IBM research projects and programmes to ensure that the Centre achieves its goals;
• To assist Director and Deputy Director, USD / IBM Centre in fiscal matters of the Centre, including the proper planning, managing & recording a portion of the operational budgets, business plans, and allocation of resources and the maintenance of the equipments;
• To assist Director and Deputy Director, UBD / IBM Centre in the recruitment of high quality staff and graduate students;
• To assist Director and Deputy Director to develop a vibrant and research environment among the visiting professors/ scholars/research fellows/post-doctoral programmes to enhance research;
• Responsible for assessing the achievement and performance of the research projects by each group and provide feedback to the Director of the Centre;
• To liaise with relevant principal investigators of each research project, including assisting the researchers in procurement related to UBD / IBM projects, to ensure that the research projects are appropriately and adequately articulated;
• To maintain relevant records pertaining to research projects and programmes, as well as to candidates enrolled as research fellows and students enrolled in the graduate programmes;
• Liaise with relevant university’s administration and other relevant parties, such as public and private agencies/ companies, and other local and international stakeholders;
• Perform other duties and tasks as directed by the Director and Deputy Director of UBD / IBM Centre. Job RequIrements:
• Must be Brunei Citizens or Permanent Residents of Brunei Darussalam.
• Must possess a good undergraduate degree.
• Competent and fluent in written and spoken English and Sahasa Melayu.
• Knowledge and skills in IT and accounting area would be an advantage.
• Have an understanding of the importance of Intellectual Properties Rights.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills with pleasant personality.
• Internatiohal experience/exposure, through work and/or education would be an advantage.
• Willingness to do what is necessary for the success of the USD1 IBM Projects, including work after normal hours when necessary.
• AbiLity to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Literacy in Window-based computer application.

Duration
: Term for 2 years. There will be an initial 3 months probationary period within the 2 year contract.
